There’s a lot of small ways videogame and comic differ, but the biggest is how they use the original fairytales.

  1. I'm sorry but I'm in a weird position where I have to agree and disagree with this guy on his video it's weird it's hard to explain the comic and the videogame are completely different properties however they still would carry some of the same Elements which he does stay in his video and I'm not denying that however I do think there's a lot more to the character in the comic book they just kind of did some motivations to make it more interesting for people reading the comic books however also I do commend the video game for adding more layers to the characters in the comic book series I would be lying if I said I didn't want to see maybe a reboot of the comic book with the updated version from The Telltale Game in said comic book I hope that makes sense I really love how this guy does video it's not disrespectful to people who read the comic book and it's very informative to where it's not just while the comic book sucks but the video games awesome he explains himself very well and very very articulate I cannot stress that enough and if this guy reads my comment keep up the good work man like you're very very talented

  2. Twau is one of the best game I have ever played tho

  3. Reading the comics now and I gotta agree. Good video, deserves more views- in 2019, when game 2 gets released and TWAU is popular again, hopefully this video might get more traction.

  4. I love the video. I was thinking of reading the comics and while I'm slightly dissapointed this was a great help. Thank you.

  5. Great video! I agree with what your saying but how much of the comics have you read? I'm personally only a dozen issues in so I'm curious if the comics do have a change in tone and adds more nuance to the characters in later issues.

  6. Great video! My friend had sparked my interest in the fable comics and the wolf among us some time before and it pains me to see the comics don't deliver as well upon the concept. Shame really, it's such a neat idea and with the way that you explain the premise it sounds like hotbed for great story telling! I suppose comics are like though. In the realms of superhero comics writers often come by and redefine heroes into new forms, Frank Miller comes to mind with Daredevil and Batman. All the more sad too see they likely won't be able to continue with a season 2 given what happened to telltale recently. The notion of the former big bad then becoming the main character just seems real neat to me along with the "fantastical ripped down to the mundane" thing. I'd love to see someone do something it.

  7. Hey man, great vid. I haven't played the game yet but the comics have been entertaining, but disappointing, There is so much untapped potentional in the comic which is never fully realized.

  8. This was so well done and dissected. I've personally hadnt read the comics and eventhough they aren't as good as the game, It makes me appreciate the game that much more. I wanted to say a lot more but im not the best at putting my thoughts into words, overall man this was a great video analysis and comparison. It's even peaked my interest into reading the comics more. It's still a mess what happened to TellTale, but once again it allows us to trull reflect on what a good overall game TWAO was. Can't praise this video enough, and how does this video not have like thousands of views?! Keep doing what you're doing man, just earned a sub.

  9. The main difference is Fables didn't get cancelled after 1 volume.

  10. No hate because I can tell you put a lot into this but Wolf Amoung Us is actually in continuity with the comics. The reason that the racism is not as big as a problem is because at the end of Wolf Amoung Us Snow becomes in charge and treats them diffrent. What Wolf Amoung Us did is just a diffrent story raking place like 60 years before the first Fable issue so they had awhile for fables (who had to use glamours) to adjust more. PS I know it wasn’t 60 years ago I was just exaggerating lol 😂

  11. I don’t know what the fuck are you talking about, I mean, it is your opinion, and you can think whatever you want, but don’t mislead people, I find comics 10 times better than the game (I like the game though) I’ve read 70 issues out of 150 and they are just superb.

  12. Ummm… You do realize that the fables have been in the human (mundane) world since 1624 and the comic starts in 2002-3 right?… So maybe in your person life you hold on to grudges a long time or you take years see the change in someone but the Fables have been together for nearly 400 YEARS!!!!! Are you saying that Bigsby can do good and show change for that long but YOU would still not forgive him????

Remember with the exception of the 3 pigs and Red Riding hood no one else that knew first hand what he did is still alive…. Look I get the point of your video but the bases is wrong! They changed the video game by amping up the drama and tension because people love tension; that's why you never see a movie where the main character has a happy life with no conflict. So maybe we can look at the video games and the comic like we look at Marvel movies vs Marvel comics… they are the same except for little changes… parallel worlds.

This is not a person attack on you but the way you combline about why the comic characters don't have more fear of Bigsby reminds me of the people who write stories about beings who live millions of years and yet still cry over the woman/man who rejected them when they were 15… I mean are you SERIOUS?!!!!…. Dude that's crazy! If I met a person who called me the N-word when I we were 10, but I see now that he has "Truly" grown and changed who is the real racist? Him for something he did a long time ago and honestly regrets or me who can't let go and ignores ALL he is doing NOW!!!

Bigsby changed! He is the only fable to fight in the World Wars NOT because he wanted to see death and violence but because he wanted to help, to defend, and to stop evil! The other fables didn't enter because they thought it was not their concern and yet you feel that in the comics he should be more feared!?!!

  13. The digital comics based on the game are really good, because they add some back stories to some characters.

  14. I really liked this video. Don't listen to other's critique. Or take it with a grain of salt. The Bigby of the comica is unrepentant and unchanged inside. The videogame shows the moral struggle so much more and allows players to immerse themselves more than any other medium can. There will always be book>movie/game snobs and trolls. If someone ate a little girl, her grandma, and whole armies, I wouldn't turn my back on them. 400 years or no. Also the game takes place in 1986-7, whereas the comics are set in the years they are published, if memory serves.

  15. So the first issues of fables came out in 2002
The wolf among us is set in the 80's
So Colin stayed in Bigby's apartment for 20 years…

  16. spoilers

great video! twau was nearly every breath i took from 2014-2015, and i have to agree with you with how the comics don't live up to the expectations the game sets. i really enjoyed the comic story arcs of rose red's murder, animal farm, and the journalist who thought the tables were vampires, but otherwise the rest of them fell short, especially in the circumstances that snow and bigby finally got together and how their family is treated by the story. i personally put down the series after reading cubs in toyland, because it felt more like a fruitless attempt to say 'haha sike! u really thought snow and bigby could be happy raising their children together and live happily ever after? fuck you we're killing the kids'

  17. Sometimes the creators don't know what's best for their creation.

  18. awesome video, man! twau is one of my favorite games ever. i feel like you got one or two things wrong about the comics, maybe because you didnt read all of it. but what you sure as hell got right is that the comics didnt exploit all its potencial. Nevertheless, you do a great job explaining why this game is so good. you deserve more recognition for this.

  19. Wait a minute A Wolf Among Us was originally a comic they literally made cinematic for the game

  20. I agree that the comics aren't nearly as interesting as the game but it does have some interesting plot points and explores a lot of aspects untouched by the game, like what the fables were running from and why bigby is special in regard to wolves. I think reading the comics is a must even if it's not as interesting as the games since the game raised a million questions but answered none.

  21. There needs to be a fables Netflix tv series there’s already a vertigo series that’s successful on television…..Lucifer anyone

  22. The difference is that The wolf among us is a crime thriller Fables is a fantasy epic they are two different genres so the stories themes and tone is going to be different. The wolf among us is a prequel to legends in exile specifically, legends in exile is the most crime thriller story arc in fables so it makes sense they went that route in the game.
Here's a warning for anyone wanting to read the comics that Bigby and Snow aren't really main characters per say sure they have a heavy presence but fables focuses on so many different characters with each story arc having different point of view protagonists

  23. I think that ""fables the wolf among us""" comic is absolute BS, the way it ended is just ridiculous and i refuse to accept that's what actually happened. In the game you don't lock the crooked man up no matter what choices you make so their argument that """its a possibility** is just dumb.

  24. i miss this serie i wanted to see what was next between bigly and snow 🙁

  25. High quality content I was shocked at your subscribers no. Got yourself one.

  26. This comparison is so awesome it makes me want to go back and re-read the comic!! I thought Snow White was such a blank slate/Captain obvious reporter; so I definitely need to finish video game.

  27. I wonder if since the game includes urban legends, if they ever make a second one (take a few liberties, copy some stuff from American gods, telltale is bankrupt) have new urban legends such as Slenderman being a Pedo

  28. Well then to bad for you that the company folded under its own incompetence

  29. My beast guess why they canceled wolf among us is because they had more money gunning for the walking dead with Clem but Damn they would get the same amount of money for this storyline to. God knows I would of paid for it

  30. The Wolf Among Us season 2 trailer has released im so excited

  31. "Burying the hatchet"(while talking about the woodsman)
    slow clap ensues

  32. I feel the biggest issue the Fables comic has was it went too deep into fantasy. The early comics were amazing and are clearly what Wolf Among Us took inspiration from. Once they started focusing on the Adversary invasion the overall story went downhill imo. It really should have stuck with mystery and keeping a secret society.

  33. Abuser and victim? HES A WOLF. Prey and Predator.

  34. Incredible analysis. Definitely gonna look into your channel more after this.

  35. like the idea of making fary tels into those twist characters and also the are not just fary tels characters the are urban legends characters like bloody mary and jersey devil and the crooked man

  36. I want to read the comic but i don't know where to start and where to read it???

  37. I agree the wolf among us is a deep examination into the faults and issues such as society has, utilising a central character to do so. The comics while good don't focus on this but resolving overarching narratives utilising a myriad of interesting but not as deep characters. Both are good but wolf among us feels more personal and interesting.

  38. The same thing happened with me. I played wolf among us. Loved it and, went pick up some fable comics. Expecting to see big by wolf doing his thing and, was disappointed 😔. Everything the tell tale game had. Well, fables didn’t, for me. It threw me off, it was scrambled and, boring. I didn’t like it. The game was far better and, made me interested and, intrigued. In the fable town mystery and, characters. The game totally reinvented the books in a new way. The wolf among us was my favorite tell tale game ever made.

  39. I have read the fables comics and played wolf among us and I have to agree with you the wolf among us storyline is way better in my opinion
